What to look for

Signs of a nest

  • Wasps or hornets flying in and out of one spot
  • A gray paper nest under an eave, a deck or a grill cover
  • Yellow jackets going in and out of a hole in the ground
  • Insects flying into a gap in the siding or a wall

Before we arrive

Until we get there

  • Keep people and pets away from the nest and the path the insects fly.
  • Do not plug the hole they use. They will find another way, sometimes into the house.
  • Do not spray the nest or knock it down yourself.
  • If someone is allergic to stings, keep them indoors.

What we do

How the job goes

1 · Find the nest

We follow the flight path to the nest and work out what kind of insect it is.

2 · Take it down

We remove wasp, hornet and yellow jacket nests we can reach.

3 · Honey bees

If they turn out to be honey bees, we tell you and point you to a beekeeper.

Questions people ask

Questions about bee, wasp and hornet nests

When are wasps and hornets at their worst?

Nests grow all summer. Late summer is when they are biggest and the insects defend them hardest.

Will they come back to the same spot?

Wasps do not reuse an old nest, but a sheltered spot can draw a new queen the next spring. We point out the spots that keep drawing them.

Do you remove honey bees?

Honey bees are handled differently. If we find honey bees, we tell you and point you to a beekeeper.
